Situ\u00e9s au nord-est de l\u2019Alg\u00e9rie, les monts du Hodna forment une ligne parall\u00e8le \u00e0 la c\u00f4te et culminent \u00e0 1 900 m d\u2019altitude. Cette r\u00e9gion est essentiellement d\u00e9di\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019agriculture et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9levage des moutons. Mara\u00eechage, arbres fruitiers, bl\u00e9, raisin et olives rythment les petites parcelles de terrain. Les for\u00eats d\u2019oliviers, de c\u00e8dres et de ch\u00eanes qui occupaient autrefois ces versants sont d\u00e9sormais clairsem\u00e9es, et laissent un sol us\u00e9 par l\u2019\u00e9rosion et le surp\u00e2turage. En 150 ans, l\u2019Alg\u00e9rie a perdu pr\u00e8s de 40 % de ses for\u00eats. Le climat continental semi-aride de ces montagnes voit se succ\u00e9der \u00e9t\u00e9s secs et chauds et hivers rigoureux. Les pr\u00e9cipitations atteignent 700 mm \u00e0 1 000 mm par an sur les reliefs. Ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne rare, une neige abondante est tomb\u00e9e sur la r\u00e9gion au d\u00e9but de l\u2019ann\u00e9e 2005. Aux dires des habitants, ce fut la plus importante chute de neige depuis 60 ans \u2013 un paradoxe en ces temps o\u00f9 le r\u00e9chauffement climatique figure au premier plan des probl\u00e9matiques mondiales. Mais les m\u00e9t\u00e9orologues affirment que ces ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes extr\u00eames ne d\u00e9mentent en rien le r\u00e9chauffement. \u00c0 long terme, ils pr\u00e9voient une fonte des neiges tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9coce en haute montagne et une diminution drastique des pr\u00e9cipitations neigeuses en moyenne montagne.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
